Sustainability, Cards & Coffee

Sustainable Economic Development: Coffee and Card Making

Are you a coffee lover? Our Timorese families grow and harvest a premium organic coffee in the Ermera district (part of the CER community) of East Timor. In 2009 we developed a new product - JUST Coffee, using only their beans and the skills of the boutique roasters Blue Sky Coffee. Through your individual purchases or by ‘switching’ your office to this wonderful coffee, you further build awareness of the East Timor story throughout our community and directly increase the returns to the Coffee Farmers and their communities.

Could you support our Justice Product range? TTN has recently released a new range of cards from the women in Railako. These beautiful and reasonably priced cards highlight traditional Timorese weaving (Tais).  We also have a range of authentic, hand-made Tais products (traditional hand woven fabric), including bookmarks, wrist wraps, table runners, tablecloths and bags. If you or your workplace could make a regular purchase of any of these products, you could help us build the ongoing sustainability of these micro-economic initiatives.

More than 50 women are employed each week making the cards and most of the families associated with CER are involved in the growing of coffee.

These projects aim to provide sustainable income generating opportunities for local communities and families. TTN supports the marketing and sale of locally made products in Australia, with all proceeds being returned to the makers and their communities.

Did you know....

There are now 52 women employed in the arts and craft co-operative. The income they are generating will help to pay for their children to receive an education – a luxury that most adults have not been afforded.

The range now includes 15 Designs, with  beautiful new Christmas and Australian Themed Cards.
