Speech and Drama

In addition to forming part of our academic curriculum as a subject, the study of Speech and Drama also is offered to students as part of our Cultural program and can be of great benefit to students in many ways.

Speech and Drama complements our MusicDebating and  Theatresports activities particularly, especially in respect to College Events.  It also is a strong basis for students interested in performance and College Productions.

Speech and Drama undertaken in this way is examined by AMEB – the Australian Music Examinations Board – which is the most widely used assessment system for Speech and Drama in Australia.

Highly trained examiners, specialists in their field, assess students and detailed written reports are provided for all practical examinations.

A copy of the AMEB Examination letter and timetable can be downloaded (also available from the related documents section of this webpage).

Speech and Drama is a multi component discipline.Speech examines voice, oratory performance, confidence in public speaking, clarity of speech, argumentative styles – such as debating – and speech patterns, such as accents and minor speech impediments.  Drama looks at performance aspects and such as characterisation, mime, improvisation, reading and recitation.
