The tradition of Terrace Rugby is virtually as old as the College stone walls and rugby continues to play a major role in the sporting life of the College and the many hundreds of students who take the field in the Red and the Black each year.

Our College is proud of its rich Rugby heritage which has contributed greatly to the fabric of the College and the learning, growth and memories of the Terrace Family. Terracians have acquitted themselves with courage and distinction over the years, sometimes “playing above their weight” and performing “against the odds”… Many have represented at State and National level, including the 32 Old Boys who have been chosen to represent at the highest level for the Australian Wallabies (see full list of Rugby Internationals) – a rare feat among schools in Australia.

rugbyRugby is a game of speed, varied skill execution, tactics and controlled physical aggression – which makes it well suited to the development of young men of all shapes, sizes and abilities.  The Terrace Rugby Program is committed to offering a safe and well-structured environment with a focus on participation, enjoyment and the opportunity to learn. In so doing, the program provides boys, coaches and referees with a strong framework for improvement and abundant opportunity to develop the key elements of rugby.

The Terrace Rugby Program will:

Make a positive and lasting contribution to the total education and development of every Terrace Gentleman that commits to play rugby.

Effective player development is achieved by developing and educating the technical, physical, mental and tactical skills, of all the existing Terrace Rugby players, thus creating player depth and enjoyment of rugby both at and beyond Terrace.

rugbyThe rationale behind this development process is:

The development of Rugby players generally, throughout the school program, inherently improves the skill and enjoyment of all rugby players and ultimately provides a wider base to choose players to represent the school at the highest level.

The Terrace Players and Parents Information booklet is available here, as are a range of rugby resources in the related documents section of this webpage.
