Swimming is the most successful sport at Terrace with 16 GPS Swimming titles and 7 CIC Swimming titles. Terrace has also produced many Australian and Olympic champions such as Tony Fingleton, Mark Tonelli, Jade Winter, Nicholas and Christian Sprenger.

Terrace has recently entered a dynamic new era for its swimming program with the appointment of professional swim coaches to work with College students. The arrangement sees the College forming a relationship with the Commercial Swimming Club, which is based at the Valley Pool, and accessing the club’s fulltime coaches.

While the new program will offer serious opportunities for the best swimmers at Terrace, it is wholly inclusive and designed to improve all students irrespective of their ability. The presence of Mr Patten and his team should have an impact on Terrace’s overall performance at the annual CIC and GPS Swimming Championships. 

Head Coach Mr Trent Patten will be responsible for the delivery of the Terrace Aquatic Program and will initially conduct a minimum of 50% of the program sessions, with this involvement increasing during the interschool competition period of Term 1.   The Commercial Swimming Club assistant coach Mr Drew Arnold and school coaches will be responsible for conducting the balance of the sessions.
