School zone under scrutiny

Brisbane City Council officers will be regularly patrolling school zones to ensure a safe environment for students.
The College has been informed that officers will speak with drivers seen not observing parking laws and also will have the power to issue on-the-spot fines.
"The primary purpose for parking enforcement around schools is to ensure child safety, it is certainly not council's intention to make parking near schools an overly onerous task,'' Council spokesman Mr Aaron Spinks said.
College Dean Mr Chris Mayes and Dean of Students Mr David Carroll have regularly highlighted in the Terrace News, the parking restrictions around the College.
Parents are asked not to park on the College side of Rodgers St before and after school but to use the area as a pick-up and drop-off zone only. Double parking is prohibited.
Parents also are asked not to use the carpark as a drop-off and pick-up zone.
