Careers

Terrace Guidance and Counselling Services provides many resources and activities to help students with their career development. These include:
- Terrace career website page, containing information on topics helpful for career exploration, decision-making and planning (see the menu on the right).
- Weekly career news emails sent to all Year 10, 11 and 12 students by T-mail and to parents who request them (email roslynlim@terrace.qld.edu.au to subscribe).
- The Terrace Old Boy’s Career Expo which is held in May each year. It provides students with an opportunity to talk to representatives of tertiary institutions, GAP Year programs, and other organisations such as the Australian Defence Force. Guest speakers (usually Terrace Old Boys) are also invited to talk to students about their jobs.
- Year 7 and Year 9 students have an introduction to career exploration and the world of work through short programs such as The Real Game during the year.
- Year 10 students undertake a comprehensive career development program in Formation lessons during Terms two and three. This program is designed to assist students with their career exploration and their planning for Years 11 and 12.
- There is a career section in the Terrace Library (behind the information desk), which is accessible to all students and updated regularly.
- Students in all year levels (and their parents) are welcome to make appointments to talk with one of the counsellors at Terrace about their future plans. Parents should ring 3214 5237 to make an appointment. Students can call into the Guidance and Counselling Office in the hallway above the Campbell Centre to make a time that suits them.
Questions about the career development program at Terrace should be directed to Dr Ros Lim at email roslynlim@terrace.qld.edu.au.
