Play hard, play fair, never give up.

Cricket

Cricketers representing St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace, acknowledge and embrace the Spirit of Terrace Cricket and the laws of the game.

Terrace has a hard-won reputation as a fiercely competitive opponent and, just as importantly, as the fairest of competitors. Proudly wearing the Baggy Black means playing to the last ball, regardless of the match situation.

Terrace players take pride in the importance of the team, acknowledging the role of the team captain, the Director of Cricket and coaching staff.

The unalterable focus of Terrace is on supporting and developing players and fielding the best teams available to the school. When selected for a Terrace team, that place has been hard-earned. It matters not which team a Terracian plays in - the approach is the same - as is the support for all who don the Baggy Black.

At Terrace, success is not just defined by on-field outcomes.  Success is measured by the extent to which Terrace players have:

Played hard, played fair and never given up;

Terrace cricketers accept all umpiring decisions as a mark of respect for opponents, the umpires, the team and the game itself.

Terrace players acknowledge and respect their opponents. They appreciate excellence regardless of whether it is demonstrated by a teammate or a member of an opposing team.

Terrace players value the contribution and sacrifices of their families that enable them to meet these expectations.
