GPS and CIC Cross Country is a sport for anyone and everyone to be involved in. Students of a variety of shapes and sizes can get involved in the sport. Cross Country also provides a great basis for fitness in other sports and many of our team members are involved in a host of sporting and cultural opportunities at Terrace.

Our competitive focus is on the older runners. While our younger runners do compete, the emphasis is on participation and enjoyment. Since the early 1990s, Terrace Cross Country has developed a wonderful history and culture and is currently enjoying unbridled interest and enthusiasm amongst all the athletes, coaches and parents. Term 1 offers all boys an opportunity to join the Running Club. This program is now in its 18th year and is extremely popular with boys of all ages. The program is run in the mornings on the various distance courses around Victoria Park. Term 2 is the official season for CIC and GPS Cross Country. Training occurs either before or after school while competitions are held on Friday afternoons or mid week.

In the past 17 years, Terrace has been placed in the top three at the GPS Championships 13 times. Terrace has won the GPS Championships seven times in the past 11 years with victories in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2010 and 2011. Second places were achieved in 1995, 1996, 2000, 2005, 2006 and 2009, and third place in 2007.

The GPS team has developed a wonderful team spirit providing the foundation for the team to successfully win the GPS Cross Country Shield for pre-GPS Competition for the six years from 2006 to 2011. Not to be outdone by their senior brothers, the CIC team has also tasted success at the CIC Championships.

Terrace Cross Country also offers coaching clinics in the Easter holidays and a GPS Camp at Lennox Heads in Term 2. Terrace Cross Country is supported by a dedicated group of parents who form the Terrun Supporters Committee. Currently this Committee is chaired by Mr Gerard Mullins.
