Rowing

Shoulder to shoulder, brothers in arms

rowing

Terrace Rowing is one of the biggest schoolboys Rowing programs in Australia.  With more than 300 rowers wearing the Red and Black on the river, we continue to build towards maintaining our status as the Premier GPS rowing program.  Our rowers have experienced significant of success in recent seasons and have been the Number 1 School in four of the last five GPS premierships.

We encourage our young men to remain committed to themselves, their fellow rowers and to the Rowing program. Like Terrace Rowers before them, it is important to train with diligence, compete with honour and win with humility.

The rowing journey is a five-year plan that develops our rowers to reach their peak in their final and open season. The coaches across the age groups are working to a plan that continues their improvement while building on the foundations of previous seasons. For those at the beginning of their journey, the Learn to Row program introduces them to the very basic and most important fundamentals of rowing. Years 9 and 10 sculling programs are designed to introduce our rowers to racing while advancing their skills. The Year 11 and ultimately the Open program moves them into sweep boats while promoting elite performance and regatta success.

Rowing is available to Terracians from Year 8 to Year 12. Training takes place in mornings, in Terms 1 and 4, at our state-of-the-art facility at the Tennyson Playing Fields and principally, the Brother CL Dillon Boatshed situated on Oxley Creek. The competitive season culminates in Term 1, with the Premiership Regatta and the Head of the River.

The Terrace Rowing program is greatly supported by the College and our parent support group Terrow.  Our program would not be able to operate at such an elite level, if it was not for this support.  I strongly believe that Terrow is the greatest Rowing support group and with their help we are able to deliver a first class program with first class facilities and equipment.

I would like to welcome all new and returning rowers to the 2012 Terrace rowing season.  Get excited…as it is going to be big!
