GPS Music Showcase

Monday night was a very special event where over 300 students from all nine GPS schools took to the stage together in Choir, Concert Band and Symphony Orchestra at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre. Amongst these elite musicians were 20 Terracians representing Terrace and Terrace Music. This performance was attended by a large audience of over 800 parents and past students. Thank you to everyone who came. If you would like to be on the future email list please contact ImogenBrown@Terrace.qld.edu.au.

Debating Workshops

The first Debating Seminar for the season was held on 12 February. Hosted every month, the Terrace Skills and Training Coordinator and Senior A Coach, Ms Chantel Morris, runs these sessions to facilitate student led improvement across all year levels. In the first session, they talked about the feedback that different teams had received in Round 1 of GPS, then tackled problems that students had identified, such as: how to use rebuttal to win debates, how to win empirical debates, and how to use preparation time strategically to help with Round 2. These sessions allow students to reflect on past debates and develop strategies to improve on particular aspects of their speeches in a collaborative space. The next debating seminar will be on 12 March from 3.30-5pm. Students are welcome to send through ideas and feedback to Chantel: chantelmmorris@gmail.com
