Culture
In providing a holistic education, we believe that it is important to nurture the creative side of our students. The Terrace Culture program helps to foster the College Mission, with students guided by experienced staff with a genuine empathy and concern for the development of well-rounded students.
Participating in the various cultural activities further enhances the development of self-confidence, emotional intelligence, communication, higher order and creative thinking skills, self-discipline and team work.
The Culture program presents opportunities in the following areas:
- Chess
- College Production
- Debating
- Music
- Public Speaking
- Speech & Drama
- Theatresports
See the link below for more information about each of the offerings within our Culture program.
In addition to competing in the Red and Black as part of the Great Public Schools' Association, Terrace is involved in a range of external cultural competitions. These include the Queensland Debating Union, Queensland Youth Theatresports and the Queensland Catholic Schools and Colleges Music Festival. Students are also able to access a range of exciting opportunities through a variety of external performances, camps and touring events.
The continued involvement and great achievements of Old Boys in a diverse range of cultural pursuits serves as a testament to the positive direction of the Terrace Culture program. Parents and caregivers are able to support our Culture program through our Support Groups - the Terrace Performing Arts and the Debating Support Group. Both groups meet monthly and all parents are most welcome to play an active role in supporting their sons and our programs. Meeting dates for these support groups are listed in the College Calendar.
Further information on Support Groups or our cultural activities can be obtained by contacting the Culture Office on +617 3214 5226.
