Round 5

Round 5 saw the majority of the program playing games in the supplementary draw, with 18 games played against Brisbane State High School. The supplementary draw is a vital part of the GPS competition, providing valuable and quality competitive fixtures each week for teams that don’t match up against other opposition. While these games fall outside of the GPS competition, they offer players an opportunity to play against an older age group team, or a side from a higher division, something that will fast track skill development and allow teams to challenge themselves against stronger opposition.

The weekend’s supplementary games raised the team’s level of performance to match the opposition’s standard. Particular praise must be given to the 7 Gold team who defeated the BBC 7Ds, while the 5Ds and 6Ds also recorded victories against higher division sides. There were two hat tricks over the weekend with Sam Daugalis claiming one in the 4th XIs win over BBC and Harrison Klatt (6C) going one better and taking a double hat trick, four wickets in four balls.

In the fixtures against BSHS, Terrace was able to record their fourth consecutive winning day of the 2020 season, winning 62% of games against the traditionally strong State High program. The 2nd XI recorded a convincing victory in their fixture with Callum Walsh claiming impressive figures of 6/18, as did the 11As, thanks largely to a century from batsman Jack Manly. The 10Cs continued their undefeated season defeating BSHS by 97 runs.  Once again, the B teams were impressive, only dropping one game across all age groups. State High were able to claim victory in a low scoring 1st XI fixture that sees the team facing a must win game this weekend against Churchie to stay in touch with the competition leaders.

Each week the program recognises the individual efforts of players that take wickets and score runs. On Saturday, the difference in many of the matches were the small but meaningful efforts that often go unsung such as a diving save, hard running between wickets or excellent support from the sidelines. These team-first plays are what the Terrace Cricket culture is built on, and we congratulate those boys who meet this standard every week.

In Round 6, Terrace plays Anglican Church Grammar School in the majority of games in the annual Pink Stumps round, a GPS initiative which aims to support the McGrath Foundation.

Terrace had a very successful weekend hosting Brisbane State High School for Round 4 of the GPS season. Please see below for details.

The Terrace 1st VI hosted a big BSHS team. The boys continued to impress as they put on another thrilling performance. The 1st VI demonstrated their athleticism and game awareness with a variety of offensive options, which resulted in a 3-0 win.
The program overall had 15 wins and two losses.

The team of the week were the 11Bs who have continued their four game winning streak. They put on a clinical display, highlighting their offensive capabilities. The 11Bs dismantled their opponents 2-0.

We look forward to travelling to Anglican Church Grammar School next weekend for Round 5 of the competition.  Please remember to check your notifications on the Terrace App for all information surrounding training times and game days.
