'Art as Alternate' Professional Exhibition | Ms Fiona Altoft
Our Year 12 Visual Art students have been working hard, creating impressive artwork for their IA3 assessment.
This year, for the first time, our Senior Art students had the opportunity to present their works in a professional exhibition space – The Station. Tasked with resolving their body of work around the concept of "Art as Alternate" the boys embraced the challenge with diverse and innovative approaches, stepping into the role of curators for their exhibition.
The evening was a resounding success, drawing a wonderful crowd of staff, parents, and friends who gained insight into the life of an art student at Terrace. These young men articulated the contexts of their work, the inquiries they explored, and how they skillfully brought their intentions to life. For some, this experience was particularly meaningful, as they resolved deeply personal works.
As their teacher, it is a privilege to accompany them on this journey of artistic exploration. Through the exhibition of their work, they are learning the powerful art of communication and the connection they can create with an audience.
Thank you to our very competent and hardworking technician Ms Rachael Archibald and to Mr Michael Tracey from the maintenance team.
The Art Department is excited to have such exceptional artists coming up through the grades and we look forward to more exhibitions in the future.
Thank you to College staff and families who attended. This contributed to the success of the night.
