Scholastic Assessment & Music Placement Day
On Friday 30 August, students in Years 5 and 7 2025 are required to attend Scholastic Assessment (including current Year 6 Terrace students). Incoming students to the College who already play a musical instrument (including piano and voice) are requested to attend the Music Placement session immediately following the Scholastic Assessment.
The literacy and numeracy session will allow staff to plan for extension and support programs. All information gathered from the session is treated in the strictest confidence and does not impact your son’s enrolment at the College.
The music placement session allows staff to listen to students and place them in ensembles for next year.
- All students should bring a blue or black pen.
- Students are welcome to bring a water bottle.
- All students should bring a small snack to eat during a break in the sessions.
- All students may wear casual clothes.
- Parents/caregivers are not required to stay for the duration of the assessment/music placement activities.
- If, due to extreme circumstances, your son cannot attend on Friday 30 August 2025, please email the Head of Faculty: Exceptional Learners Ms Karin Coleshill (karincoleshill@terrace.qld.edu.au) as soon as possible and share any required information about your son’s learning needs.
- Students attending the music placement session will be provided with a complimentary lunch.
- Students attending the music placement session should bring their instrument/s, which will be stored at the back of the Assessment room. The College will provide double bass, percussion instruments (percussionists will be required to bring sticks and mallets only) and tubas (tuba players will be required to bring their own mouthpiece).
