Captains' Corner | Rupert McGrath, College Vice Captain 2025
For those who don’t know me, my name is Rupert McGrath, and I am privileged to be one of the four College Vice Captains for 2025.
Throughout my time at Terrace, I have participated in several sports, which has helped me build a strong connection with my fellow students, as well as teachers and coaches at the College. Since my Terrace journey began in 2018, I have been involved in rugby, cricket, rowing, cross country, tennis, and athletics programs. For me, engaging in these co-curricular activities has been vital to becoming the person that I am today. Outside of Terrace, I love hanging out with friends and family in my spare time.
Earlier this term, I was appointed College Vice Captain. This prestigious honour has left me speechless at times, as the 2025 cohort is full of bright students who are just as deserving. Our leadership group, comprised of Cooper Dooley, Rehan De Livera, Lachlan Cooper, Oliver Nasser, and myself, are determined to put everything we have into upholding the rich traditions and culture of Terrace, while also creating our legacy and laying the groundwork for a stronger future.
This year, I have learned much from the current College Captains, Tom White, Charlie Gaspar, Max Van Balen, and Finlay Casey-Ryan. Throughout my time at Terrace, I don’t think I have seen a group of leaders work so well together and create a more fun and engaging community for all students. In 2025, I hope to carry this legacy forward with the support of my fellow Captains and our Senior cohort.
I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the Class of 2024, who have recently completed their final exams. Good luck with what is to come in the next few years. As for the rest of the school, best wishes in your final pieces of assessment for the year – work hard and finish strong.
I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the coming year.
