Captains' Corner | Lachlan Cooper, College Vice Captain 2025
My name is Lachie Cooper, and I could not be more honoured to be a College Vice Captain in 2025. Alongside a fantastic leadership team comprising of Cooper, Rehan, Rupert and Ollie, I am incredibly excited for next year.
My Terrace journey started in Year 5, way back in 2018. Since then, I have proudly called Terrace 'home'. Throughout this time, I have completely immersed myself in College life. I have participated in various activities, such as basketball, rugby, swimming, volleyball, cricket, music (playing the trombone), and debating. I even had a very short stint as a rower! If you can’t find me in the red and black, I will either be playing golf with my dad or taking a trip to the beach.
As the excitement of our appointment settles in and 2025 draws closer, we are now realising the enormity of the task ahead of us – especially as next year marks 150 years of Terrace. Over the past couple of weeks, the Captains and I have begun planning what we want 2025 to look like. We continue to rack our brains for that all-important theme to shape our year. For me, this process has involved a lot of reflection on my own time at Terrace, and how our College’s strong foundation of community has impacted my school experience.
When I look back on the Senior classes that have gone before us, it is impossible to overlook the incredible work of the 2024 cohort. Tom, Finlay, Jack, Charlie and Max have set an impeccable example of how to lead with passion and engage the entire Terrace community. I am sure that we will continue to draw inspiration from the 2024 Captains and Carry the Crest into 2025. On behalf of the Terrace community, I wish all Year 12s the best of luck for the remainder of their exams and for the next steps in their journey.
Last week, we took over the job of farewelling students at the College gates each afternoon. I have always thought that this is a special tradition at Terrace, and it has already become my favourite part of the day. I love the opportunity to talk to every face that walks past, and it is my hope over the next year to meet and talk with as many Terrace boys as possible.
House Captains were announced this week, and I would like to congratulate all Captains on their appointments. They are an extraordinary group of men, and I can confidently say that 2025 will be an incredibly exciting year. I look forward to taking on 2025 with the support of the entire Terrace Family as we celebrate GT150.
Finally, please do not hesitate to come and say G’day – I would be thrilled to meet you and have a chat.
