Principal's Message Term 4 Week 6 | Dr Michael Carroll
Dear members of the Terrace Family,
Our Year 12 students are now approaching the final stages of their external exams. The cohort has worked very hard during the exam period, and I am confident that they will be rewarded with excellent ATAR results when they are released in December.
Next week is filled with a number of key events, including our Celebration of Excellence on Tuesday evening and the Year 12 Valedictory Assembly, Mass and Dinner on Thursday. The Celebration of Excellence is the premier evening on the College calendar, where we acknowledge, congratulate, and celebrate the outstanding academic, service, cultural, and sporting achievements of 2024. The night will also showcase the musical talents of the many students and staff who form part of the College’s Culture program. I want to thank in advance the many staff and students who have worked so hard to ensure the evening’s success. I also congratulate the many students who will receive awards – well done, gentlemen. I look forward to seeing many members of the Terrace Family at the Celebration of Excellence.
Earlier this week, the new TLG Executive was appointed at the TLG AGM. I offer my congratulations to the following ladies on their appointments:
President | Mrs Victoria Cella
Vice President | Ms Camille Duffy
Hospitality | Dr Michelle Alizart
Care and Concern Committee | Ms Maureen Kearns
I look forward to working closely with the new TLG Executive and the extended committee throughout 2025.
I would also like to specifically acknowledge the outgoing members of the TLG Executive – Mrs Anna Wright and Ms Su-en Chow. On behalf of all within the Terrace Family, I extend my thanks for all your efforts in 2023 and 2024. Your commitment to supporting so many different aspects of Terrace has been extraordinary, and I thank you for all you have done during your time as the TLG Executive.
Finally this week, I am pleased to provide a brief update on the progress of Margaret Rice Place. While civil works are continuing, the current focus is the construction of internal framing for the General Learning Areas (GLAs) and other specialist rooms. The project is currently on budget, and while construction progress is favourable, Energex approval for a new transformer remains a risk that may influence final completion. Significant work is currently being undertaken to mitigate this risk. Developing a safe and reliable traffic plan for the new precinct is also well underway, focusing on ensuring safe and appropriate drop-off and pick-up protocols. Practices such as double-parking, leaving cars unattended, or performing U-turns are simply a non-negotiable in Quarry Street. Once a draft Traffic Management Plan is finalised, I will circulate it to the community for comment. Margaret Rice Place will be an outstanding learning facility for generations of Terrace students, and I thank you for your support during this construction period.
Have a great week.
God Bless.
